Matches are an essential part of Sebastian Castellanos' arsenal during his journey through the STEM worlds created by Ruben Victoriano.
Overview
Matches are among some of the handiest sources of fire available to Sebastian during his quest. While their potential for damage is great, they cannot be used directly to attack nearby creatures, but instead are used to light fallen ones on fire to finish them off without expending ammo. Matches can also burn bodies, and is a good way to pre-emptively defeat an enemy who's playing dead, or if the player wants to be thorough. Burning corpses is also a great tactic to use when fighting Laura, as she will take additional fire damage if the body she is spawning from is set alight.
Matches tend to be of limited quantity, and thus encourages the player to be frugal.

- The game seemingly features friction matches, as they can be easily ignited without having to be struck at a strip on the sides of the box.
- The label on the matchbox has the logo of Beacon Mental Hospital.
- Among many other sources of flame found within STEM, the presence of these matches in the game are highly questionable seeing how deathly averse to fire Ruvik is.
